| I was the lead programmer on Treasure Island. Many years ago, but I have very fond memories. The program was written in a proprietary language named "SAL" ("Spinnaker Adventure Language").
I honestly don't remember for sure, but there might be a backdoor in this program accessed by entering the word "spam" and then a number under 40. This was first used in the Trillium game "Fahrenheit 451" and I think I used it in Treasure Island. The number allowed the tester to jump to different "rooms" or "scenes" during testing. Don't remember if I removed this backdoor for the production version.
Regardless, good times as a young programmer. |
